Meghan Markle has a message for young girls, trust your gut.
The Duchess of Sussex shared the advice while talking about a new documentary backed by her production company, during a Q&A session with kids arranged for InStyle. The interview came out on Saturday.
The documentary in question is called Cookie Queens, directed by Alysa Nahmias. It first showed at Sundance Film Festival earlier this year and hit theatres on August 7.
Talking about the girls featured in the film, Meghan described them as “multidimensional and honest.” She said the experience of filming had let them build genuine friendships with one another.
“I think we’re our own little troop!” she said, reflecting on the bond that formed among the participants.
She also had praise for filmmaker Nahmias, saying the director managed to capture something fresh about what growing up as a girl looks like today, with all its layered, complicated parts.
Cookie Queens was brought to screen through a collaboration between Beautiful Stories, AJNA Films, and Archewell Productions, the media company Meghan runs with Prince Harry.
Archewell, set up by the couple back in 2020, still holds a partnership with Netflix, though this particular project made its way to theatres instead of streaming.
This isn’t the first time Meghan has used a platform to speak directly to young girls. Over the years she has repeatedly encouraged girls and young women to believe in themselves and act on their convictions, even when it isn’t easy.
