Why Whatson exists

A building estimate, a recipe adjustment and an image resize have little in common. They share one frustration, though. A useful answer is harder to trust when the tool hides its units, assumptions or next step.

Whatson is built around making those details visible. You can choose a tool for the task in front of you, enter your own values and use its guide to understand the result. The aim is to save a round of rough working without taking away the need for judgement.

Pakistan is the starting point for our tool design. That means useful local units, editable prices and PKR where a calculation needs money. It also means avoiding the assumption that a standard used in one city applies everywhere else.

Different tasks deserve different tools

Construction

Work with dimensions, material quantities and ordering allowances. Enter actual site measurements and supplier quotes rather than treating example values as a project estimate.

Cooking & Baking

Scale quantities, compare measures and plan portions. A calculation can help with preparation, but ingredients and cooking conditions still affect the finished food.

Seller Pricing & Profit

Compare selling prices, margins, fees and costs. Bring your own marketplace terms and business figures so the estimate reflects your situation.

Solar & Battery

Explore load, energy and storage calculations. Use equipment specifications and discuss installation choices with a qualified professional.

Gardening

Plan soil, growing spaces, watering and planting quantities. Treat local weather, drainage and plant conditions as part of the decision.

Student & Education

Calculate marks, grades and study related figures. Check the rules used by your school, university or admissions body.

Developer & Data

Format, inspect and convert text or structured data. Check the output before it becomes part of a live application or important dataset.

Image Preparation

Resize, crop, convert and prepare static images. Inspect dimensions, quality and file limits before using the download in an application or design.

Local details need room to change

A marla is a good example. The area convention can vary, so choosing the right basis matters more than a polished total. Construction prices, delivery costs, electricity assumptions and seller fees can change just as easily.

Where a tool offers an editable assumption, use it. Whatson does not present the example entries as a current market quote, an official tariff or a rate guaranteed across Pakistan. A result becomes useful when its inputs match the job you are doing.

What to expect from a tool

Clear inputs

Labels and units should help you enter measurements in the intended form. A percentage, amount and ratio are different things.

Visible limits

An estimate has a method and a scope. Notes explain where material variation, rounding or outside rules can affect the answer.

A usable next step

Some tools return a quantity, others a table or a prepared file. Check the result in the form you will actually use.

The guides sit alongside the tools to explain controls, examples and common mistakes. They are practical explanations, not certifications of a building, product, academic result or business decision.

Help us improve the details

An unclear label can be as frustrating as an incorrect total. If something looks wrong, send the tool link, the values you used and what you expected to happen to hello@whatson.pk. Remove personal or confidential information first.

We can use a reproducible example to identify the issue more reliably than a screenshot of the final number alone. Suggestions for missing tools and clearer guides are welcome too.

An independent website

Whatson.pk is not a government department, university, construction authority, utility company or marketplace. Mentioning a standard, platform or organisation does not imply approval or affiliation.

Advertising may help support the website. An advertisement is separate from a tool result, and its appearance is not a recommendation to buy a product or trust a claim. You can read the Disclaimer and Privacy Policy for the relevant limits and data practices.

A few useful answers

Can I use a result as an official assessment?

No. Use the result as a working aid, then confirm the method and requirements with the relevant professional, institution or authority.

Do I need to use the example values?

No. They help demonstrate the controls. Replace them with your own measurements, prices, quantities or source data.

Can I suggest a new tool?

Yes. Describe the task, the information a user would enter and the result that would be useful. Send suggestions through the Contact page.
