Punjab Council of the Arts has issued notices to stage performers, producers and theatre managements over alleged violations during live shows across the province.
The performers named in the notices include Naina Shehzadi, Saima Khan, Sonia Lal, Rashid Kamal and Zoya Ali. The action relates to performances staged at different venues, including Kamal Theatre, Munrooh Theatre and Shabistan Theatre.
The council accused the artists of presenting inappropriate performances and dialogue that did not comply with the rules governing stage dramas. Producers and theatre administrations have also been asked to explain alleged breaches of the relevant law.
The latest action is part of tighter monitoring of commercial theatre in Punjab. In recent weeks, the authorities have served notices on several performers and venues over content, drama timings and other operating rules.
Officials said inspections and monitoring would continue, with further action planned against theatres that fail to follow the prescribed code of conduct.
