Turf is usually bought in complete rolls or pieces, while a lawn rarely matches their dimensions exactly. Start with the ground area to be covered, then keep cutting allowance separate from the rounding needed to buy whole rolls.
The Turf Roll Calculator uses the entered length and width of one roll to find its area. It adds the selected percentage allowance to the lawn area and divides by that roll area, rounding the purchase up to a whole number.
The eighty square metre example
For 80 m² of lawn with a 10% cutting allowance, the coverage target becomes 88 m². A roll 2 m long and 0.5 m wide covers 1 m², so the order is 88 rolls.
At an example price of PKR 650 per roll, the material purchase is PKR 57,200. The result uses that entered per roll price. If the supplier quotes per square metre, work out the equivalent price for the stated roll before entering it.
In this particular example the allowance adjusted area divides exactly into the roll size. Other dimensions may leave additional purchased coverage after rounding. The calculator shows purchased roll area as well as the target so that difference remains visible.
Measure the lawn that needs turf
Exclude beds, paving and other spaces that will not be covered. If a shape has several rectangular sections, measure those sections and combine their areas without counting an overlapping corner twice.
A cutting allowance is not a layout or waste prediction. Curves, narrow edges, awkward joints and the actual cutting pattern can affect what is left over. The calculator does not place each roll on a map or check whether an offcut can be reused elsewhere.
If your ground area is recorded in square feet or marla, convert it with Pakistan Garden Area Converter first. Confirm the local square feet per marla rather than copying a figure from an unrelated property measurement.
Compare the material quote on equal terms
A roll count is useful only when roll dimensions match the supplier's actual product. Ask whether the quoted piece size is its laid coverage and whether delivery or installation is included. Those details are not inferred by a per roll price field.
The result excludes ground preparation, soil amendments, labour and watering costs. It does not assess grass suitability, condition on arrival or the ground's readiness for laying. Keep those decisions in the project plan rather than reading them into the roll count.
Use Garden Setup Budget Calculator to combine the turf material order with the remaining expenses. If you are comparing turf with seed, Lawn Seed Calculator handles a label based seed quantity, but the two purchase costs alone do not describe identical work or establishment plans.
