A garden measurement recorded in marla can produce different square foot totals when the local definition differs. That difference then carries into seed, turf, soil and irrigation orders. The definition should be explicit before the quantity work begins.
The Pakistan Garden Area Converter accepts square metres, square feet, marla or kanal. Its square feet per marla value is editable, with example presets of 272.25 and 225. Kanal is taken as 20 of the marla definition you enter.
Five marla under two definitions
With 272.25 ft² per marla, five marla is 1,361.25 ft². Using the exact square foot conversion of 0.09290304 m², that is approximately 126.4643 m². It is also 0.25 kanal under the entered twenty marla basis.
Change the definition to 225 ft² per marla and the same five marla becomes 1,125 ft², or approximately 104.516 m². The 0.25 kanal result remains the same because kanal here follows the entered marla unit rather than imposing another independent area.
Confirm the definition behind the measurement
The presets are convenient choices, not a statement that one definition applies throughout Pakistan. Match the square feet per marla to the source of your actual measurement or the local record you are using.
If you already have a measured square foot area, you can select square feet directly. There is no need to convert it into marla first and then back into square metres just to use a garden calculator. Each extra conversion creates another opportunity to carry a wrong definition forward.
An area result does not establish the shape or boundary of a plot. Two rectangles can have the same square metres and very different suitability for beds, access paths or trellis rows. This converter is not a land survey or a check of ownership records.
Transfer the useful unit, not the whole plot automatically
Area based garden tools expect square metres where their labels say m². Copy that result with its unit. A number still expressed in square feet should not be pasted into a square metre field unchanged.
Also separate the complete property area from the part used for gardening. A five marla plot may include buildings and paving. Seed, mulch and water calculations need the relevant treated or growing area, not every square metre of the property.
For lawn material quantities, use Lawn Seed Calculator or Turf Roll Calculator after the conversion. For parallel bed layout, Garden Bed Layout Planner needs actual length and width as well as access assumptions; the area alone cannot supply those dimensions. Keep the original unit and marla definition with any saved quantity worksheet so the basis can be reviewed later.
