A grass seed order needs a rate for the actual task. New seeding and overseeding can have different supplier instructions, and a product intended for one growing situation should not inherit the rate from an unrelated example.
The Lawn Seed Calculator does not choose a grass variety or a seeding rate. It multiplies the entered ground area by a label rate in grams per square metre, applies an optional extra seed allowance and rounds the result into whole packages.
Eighty square metres at the entered rate
Suppose the measured lawn area is 80 m² and the label rate you intend to use is 30 g/m². That requires 2,400 g, or 2.4 kg, before allowance. Adding 10% extra brings the order target to 2.64 kg.
With one kilogram packages, three packs are required. At an illustrative PKR 1,800 per pack, the purchase costs PKR 5,400. The purchased 3 kg is greater than the 2.64 kg order target because whole packs cannot be bought fractionally in this example.
Keep the rate and area on the same basis
An instruction expressed per square foot, per hundred square metres or per acre must be converted before it becomes a grams per square metre entry. Do not copy only its numerical part into this field and assume the unit will follow.
For land measurements in square feet or marla, Pakistan Garden Area Converter provides the square metre area. Its marla size is editable because the local definition needs to match your measurement rather than an assumed nationwide value.
The extra seed percentage is a purchasing allowance. It does not increase the recommended application rate on the ground. Nor does package rounding mean you should spread every purchased gram over the measured lawn regardless of the product label.
Decide what the calculation leaves out
The price result covers the entered seed packs. It does not include soil work, levelling, delivery, watering or labour. Add those items separately when planning the full project, for example in Garden Setup Budget Calculator.
The tool also does not check whether the selected grass is suitable for local heat, shade, use or soil. Those decisions come before using its rate. A rate from a different variety or establishment method can create a tidy arithmetic result for the wrong job.
Save the area, product identity and label basis alongside the pack count. If the lawn has separate sections with different treatments, calculate them separately. That is clearer than averaging two rates and losing the distinction between fresh seeding and an existing patch being overseeded.
