A plank count and a pack count answer different questions. The Whatson Flooring Calculator shows both so you can see how packaging changes the purchase, even when the measured floor stays the same.
It also estimates underlay using a separate coverage per roll. That avoids assuming one flooring pack automatically needs one underlay roll.
Before entering the plank size
Measure each room in the selected unit. Use additional rows for separate rectangular areas and quantity for identical repeats. Exclude floor space that will not receive the product.
Plank length and width are in inches. Check that those are the usable face dimensions for the product you are buying. Pieces per pack must be a whole number.
Underlay coverage is entered in m² per roll. It stays in that unit when the room measurements are feet. Use the roll’s appropriate coverage and account for product specific overlaps in the assumption you enter.
One room, six packs
For a 12 × 10 ft room, use planks measuring 48 × 7 inches, ten planks per pack and a 5% allowance. The measured room area is 120 sq ft.
The checked requirement is 54 planks. Whole packaging gives six packs containing 60 planks, leaving six pieces above the allowance based requirement.
With underlay coverage of 10 m² per roll, the same example returns two rolls. The underlay estimate applies the entered ordering allowance to the room area before rounding to rolls.
Spare pieces do not guarantee a usable cutting layout
This is an area estimate. It does not design board staggering, choose a starting edge, enforce a manufacturer’s minimum cut length or reuse offcuts between rooms.
A narrow strip left at a wall may need a layout adjustment that area alone cannot describe. Review the intended arrangement with the installer before turning the calculated minimum into a final order.
Keep the two prices in their own columns
The flooring quote is PKR per pack. The underlay quote is PKR per roll. The total includes whichever rates you enter, so a zero underlay rate can make a combined estimate look cheaper than the actual purchase.
Trims, thresholds, adhesives and installation labour need their own budget lines. Skirting may be estimated with the Skirting Calculator, but its product length and doorway deductions must be measured separately.
Record the product name with the saved result. Changing plank width or pieces per pack can materially change the purchase while leaving the room schedule untouched.
