Tile shopping usually ends in boxes, while your measurements start in square feet. The Whatson Tile Calculator connects those two quantities, keeping tile size, pieces per box and ordering allowance visible.
Measure each room separately. A room schedule is easier to check than one unexplained total, particularly when several spaces use the same tile.
What goes into the room rows?
Enter the room’s length and width in the selected unit. Quantity repeats an identical room area. It is not the number of tiles.
For a room with an alcove or an irregular boundary, split the area into rectangles. Do not enter the maximum length and width of the whole shape if their rectangle includes space you will not tile.
Tile dimensions stay in inches. Pieces per box must be a whole number. Check the actual packaging rather than assuming all 24 inch tiles come in the same box quantity.
Eight boxes for a 12 × 10 ft room
A 24 × 24 inch tile covers 4 sq ft. The room area is 120 sq ft. With a 5% allowance, the area basis becomes 126 sq ft, which requires 31.5 tiles before rounding.
The checked calculator result rounds that to 32 tiles. At four tiles per box, it returns eight boxes. There are no additional pieces above the chosen allowance because eight boxes contain exactly 32 tiles.
If a different box contains six tiles, the whole box purchase can leave more spare pieces even though the room has not changed.
A pattern choice is not a cutting plan
Straight and diagonal options change the illustrated pattern. They do not automatically change the waste percentage or optimise cuts. Enter an allowance suitable for the agreed layout and discuss unusual borders, niches or diagonal cuts with the installer.
The room coverage table is an area record. It does not show where each tile will be cut or whether an offcut can be reused in another room.
Compare boxes before comparing prices
The rate is PKR per box. Compare products using both box content and tile size; a cheaper box may contain less coverage. The estimated cost uses whole boxes, including any pieces above the calculated allowance.
Adhesive, grout, levelling, labour and skirting are separate. The Tile Grout Calculator uses tile and joint dimensions to estimate grout, while the Skirting Calculator starts from the room perimeter rather than its area.
Keep the supplier’s product reference and batch details with your quote. The calculator cannot check shade variation or confirm later stock will match an earlier delivery.
