Keep the whole image within a maximum width and height.

Static JPEG, PNG or WebP. Up to 4 MiB per file, 12 MiB total, 4 million pixels per image. Up to six files use the same settings.
Size and composition

Processing runs on your WordPress server. Images are not added to the Media Library. EXIF orientation is applied when PHP EXIF support is available.
