The day of an examination is often not a full preparation day. Counting it as ordinary study capacity can make a plan look better than the usable time actually available.
The Exam Study Countdown includes the preparation start date and excludes the entered examination date. It uses date only inputs, so it is not a live countdown to an examination time.
Enter the date from your own timetable
The tool does not supply an official examination schedule. Copy the date from the timetable applicable to your paper and update it if that timetable changes.
Choose a preparation start date and focused hours available on each usable day. Then enter the number of preparation days that will be unavailable because of travel, other examinations or another commitment.
Unavailable days are a count, not individually selected dates. Make sure the count refers only to days inside this preparation window.
Twenty three usable days before 1 September
If preparation starts on 5 August 2026 and the examination is on 1 September, there are 27 calendar days before the exam. The start date is included and the examination day is not.
Remove four unavailable days and 23 preparation days remain. At three focused hours per available day, the plan contains 69 focused study hours.
That figure assumes the same focused hours on every available day. It does not know which weekdays have classes or whether a weekend allows more time.
Same date and reversed dates
When start date and exam date are identical, the preparation window contains zero days. Unavailable days must then also be zero.
An exam date before the preparation start is rejected. So is an unavailable count larger than the calendar window. These checks prevent negative usable days from appearing as a normal plan.
Allocate the hours rather than leaving them as a total
A count of 69 hours does not decide which topics receive them. Use Weekly Study Allocation to compare priorities or Revision Calendar for a dated topic schedule.
The revision calendar includes its final study date. To align it with this countdown, use the day before the examination as its end date if exam day should have no planned study.
Do not assume all reserved hours will turn into effective revision. Compare the plan with your first few sessions and reduce the daily estimate if it depends on time you cannot actually protect.
The date boundaries remain the same even if you print the result later. Recalculate with a new start date when you want to assess the preparation time still ahead.
