Attending 32 of 40 held classes gives 80% attendance. The calculation is straightforward, but using days instead of recorded class sessions can change the denominator and produce a misleading figure.
The Attendance Percentage uses held classes, attended classes and a requirement you enter. Its starting threshold is an example, not a rule for every course in Pakistan.
Take the numbers from one course register
Count the sessions included by your institution for that course. Lectures, laboratories and practicals may have separate registers or requirements. Follow the official register rather than combining unlike session types yourself.
A cancelled class should not be included as a held class unless the attendance record actually treats it that way. Several classes on one day are not necessarily one attendance unit.
Enter only attendance already recorded. Planned future sessions belong in Subject Attendance Forecast, not the current attended count.
Reading the 32 out of 40 example
With 40 held classes, 32 attended and a 75% requirement, current attendance is 80%. At that held total, the minimum required attended count is 30, so the current shortfall is zero.
That does not mean you have a permanent allowance to miss two classes. As more classes are held, the denominator increases. Missing future sessions can reduce the percentage.
At a held total where the threshold requires a fraction of a class, the required count is rounded upwards. You cannot satisfy a whole session requirement by attending part of an additional session in this count model.
A course that has not started
When held and attended counts are both zero, current attendance is undefined. The calculator explains that situation rather than presenting a meaningful 0% attendance record.
Attended classes cannot exceed held classes. If that error appears, check whether the two figures came from different dates or different registers.
Decide the next question separately
For recovering a low percentage, use Attendance Recovery. It assumes every future class used in the recovery calculation will be attended.
For a known number of sessions left in the course, Future Absence Allowance checks what can be missed while still meeting a final entered threshold.
Neither result approves leave, medical exceptions or an examination entry decision. Those depend on the institution’s policy and the official attendance record. Keep a dated register copy with any calculation you use to discuss a discrepancy.
