PV Series and Parallel Array Calculator

Calculate ideal voltage, current and nameplate power for identical modules.

Open this tool

Series connections add module voltage, while parallel strings add current. Nameplate watts give another figure to compare.

Enter identical module ratings and counts in both directions. Inspect the ideal totals before applying temperature and equipment checks.

How to use

Why use this tool

Voltage, current and power remain visible together, helping expose inconsistent module data or connection counts.

Before relying on the result

Voltage adds in series; current adds in parallel. Power uses entered module W, while Vmp × Imp is shown separately for datasheet rounding checks. Temperatures and equipment ratings are not automatically applied.

Tool limitations

Voltage adds in series; current adds in parallel. Power uses entered module W, while Vmp × Imp is shown separately for datasheet rounding checks. Temperatures and equipment ratings are not automatically applied.

Questions

Why can Vmp multiplied by Imp differ from nameplate watts?

Datasheet rounding can produce a small difference. Review the entered specifications rather than silently changing one rating.

What should I check before using PV Series and Parallel Array Calculator?

Check Module nameplate power, Open circuit voltage, Maximum power voltage and Short circuit current. Use the exact units shown beside the controls and replace any example values with your own inputs.
