The Capital Development Authority has approved the establishment of 10 Ramadan bazaars in Islamabad to provide essential food items at affordable prices during the holy month.
The decision was made in a meeting chaired by CDA Chairman Mohammad Ali Randhawa, with senior officials from the district administration and CDA in attendance.
Officials said seven new Ramadan bazaars will be set up at different locations, while three existing weekly bazaars will be converted for Ramadan use. Key locations include Bhara Kahu, Pakistan Town along Islamabad Expressway, and Tarnol.
The bazaars will offer officially priced food items, cash and carry outlets, and stalls operated by various companies. A Chand Bazaar will also be arranged in the last 10 days of Ramadan to help citizens with Eid shopping.
Chairman Randhawa directed that all bazaars should operate as cashless facilities, with proper cleanliness, security, and maintenance ensured before Ramadan begins. Dedicated stalls for organic food items will also be included, with strict checks on quality.
Authorities were instructed to complete all repair and setup work on time and ensure regular monitoring throughout the holy month.
