WhatsApp has started rolling out a new feature that changes how people react to Status updates. Instead of simple emoji reactions, users can now respond with full emoji stickers on photos and videos. It’s a small tweak, but it makes Status interactions feel more lively.
With Status Reaction Stickers, users can pick any emoji and send it as a sticker reaction. These reactions appear privately in the chat with the Status creator, not publicly. The idea is to make conversations feel more expressive without putting reactions on display for everyone else.
In some cases, reactions also include animated effects, such as confetti. Each emoji triggers a visual animation, adding a bit of fun while still keeping things clean and consistent. WhatsApp says the goal is to help users express themselves more naturally, without overcomplicating the experience.
According to WABetainfo, the feature uses Lottie, an open source animation format known for smooth motion and small file sizes.
Using the feature is simple. Open WhatsApp and head to the Status tab. View the Status you want to react to, tap the sticker icon, choose Reaction, and select your emoji. Your sticker reaction appears instantly, making Status replies feel a lot more personal.
