The Karachi Traffic Police have announced a week long closure of Jahangir Road due to ongoing construction work, warning motorists to expect delays in the area.
Traffic officials said the stretch between Teen Hatti and Guru Mandir will remain closed during the work period.
According to police, vehicles moving from Teen Hatti toward Guru Mandir will be diverted toward Jail Chowrangi. Motorists have been advised to take a turn from Pir Ilahi Bukhsh Road and then move through Jail Chowrangi and Jamshed Road to reach Guru Mandir.
Heavy traffic has also been diverted from Liaquatabad Dak Khana toward Nazimabad in an effort to reduce congestion on nearby routes.
The advisory comes as development activity continues across the city. Earlier, Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab said all ongoing projects would be completed within the next 100 days, declaring 2026 as the year of development for Karachi.
Speaking at a ceremony, Wahab said the city administration is pushing to speed up work and ensure projects are delivered on time. He added that parts of the Karachi Red Line Project will be opened to the public in March and July.
The mayor said the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation is spending Rs 46 billion from its own resources on development schemes. According to him, funding is in place and work will continue without interruption.
Wahab also said the city council approved the auction of scrap and unused material, generating Rs 227 million. The amount will be used to purchase five heavy trucks for municipal departments, including environment services, encroachment removal, parks, and veterinary services.
He further announced construction work on Jahangir Road and a new road linking Natha Khan Bridge to Pehlwan Goth, with Rs 1.1 billion allocated for the projects.
The mayor said the Korangi Causeway Bridge will be opened for public use soon, while the EBM Causeway has already been completed. He added that Karachi’s infrastructure is gradually improving and said consistent planning remains key to meeting development targets.
