Soneri Bank Limited has announced the appointment of Ahsan Mushahid Siddiqui as its new President and Chief Executive Officer, effective from April 1, 2026, subject to regulatory approval.
The decision was approved by the bank’s Board of Directors during its 214th meeting held on January 29, 2026. The appointment was later disclosed in a notice to the Pakistan Stock Exchange.
Mr. Siddiqui will take over from Muhtashim Ahmad Ashai, whose contract is scheduled to expire on March 31, 2026. The board acknowledged the services of the outgoing president and CEO and extended best wishes for his future plans.
The bank said the appointment will require clearance from the State Bank of Pakistan under the Fit and Proper Test criteria, which applies to senior executives in the banking sector.
Soneri Bank also informed the stock exchange that the leadership change is part of routine succession planning. The development has been communicated to relevant regulators, including the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan.
Market observers are watching leadership moves across the banking sector closely. Pakistan’s banks are currently operating in a challenging environment, marked by high interest rates, balance sheet pressures, and tighter regulatory scrutiny.
Soneri Bank operates as a mid sized commercial lender with a nationwide branch network. Its operations cover corporate, commercial, SME, and consumer banking segments.
